Member of the CPSU Central Committee (1981-1990). Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (1974-1989), People's Deputy of the USSR (1989-1991). Army General (1983), Hero of Socialist Labor (1985), laureate of the USSR State Prize (1980). Participant of the Great Patriotic War. Member of the CPSU since 1944.
