Ian David McShane (born 29 September 1942) is a Scottish-English actor. His television performances include the title role in theĀ BBC seriesĀ LovejoyĀ (1986ā1994),Ā Al SwearengenĀ inĀ DeadwoodĀ (2004ā2006) and itsĀ 2019 film continuation, and Mr. Wednesday inĀ American GodsĀ (2017ā2021). For the original series ofĀ Deadwood, McShane won theĀ Golden Globe Award for Best Actor ā Television Series Drama and received a nomination for theĀ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. As a producer of the film, he was nominated for theĀ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie.
