FONG CHING is a C.I.D. who takes no interest in protecting justice. He regards being a policeman a way to earn income. Therefore he always entangles those drug addicts. It is because they usually have conducted crimes in the past. This gives him more chances to solve cases. CHING comes across a drug addict CHAU YAT SING who later becomes his spy. However SING is not loyal to him and always tricks CHING. As SING takes drugs, he becomes so poor that he forces his daughter CHAU LING to be a prostitute. After she has received money Tram her customers, she runs away. LING is discontented with SING's behaviour. One day, LING plays the trick again but this time she cannot run away. Luckily CHING comes to the hostel Tor investigation and LING is saved. LING is impressed by CHING. CHING has a wife LAU YUEN YI however love between them fades out as YI cares nothing about current affairs and it is hard for them to communicate.… ...

One day, SING tells CHING that there is a drug trade in a warehouse. He goes there and finds that a famous rich man is bribing a witness. As the rich man is afraid that his dirty trick in commerce will be disclosed, he sends subordinates to lurk CHING and blames CHING having killed a drug addict. SING arrives and is shocked by the scene. Driven by greed, SING takes the huge sum OT money and a valuable lighter away. WAI arrives and sends CHING to hospital. YI is shocked by the news and does not know what to do. She nearly miscarries her baby but luckily the baby is saved with her neighbour TO YUEN's help. As CHING becomes unconscious, he is regarded as the killer and involved in drug trade. WAI is also suspected and is questioned by the police. Although CHING has not waken up, MEI finds that he has strong will power and she is interested in him. MEI's boyfriend WONG CHUNG LEUNG is loyal to MEI and is her colleague. When he finds MEI spending so much time on CHING, he is discontented. As PONG wins the case and he asks HENRY to leave Hong Kong. He further feels relieved as MEI tells him that CHING will not wake up so quick. With all means, MEI, LING and YI try to wake CHING up but in vain. YI is very depressed and luckily TO is with her. She hopes that CHING will wake up when she gives birth to their baby. LING takes care of CHING and seeds of love germinate in her heart. However she dares not to disclose her feeling as he has got married.

SING blackmails PONG with the lighter but he is beaten up by his subordinates. He worries much and decides to leave Hong Kong. SING wants to say goodbye to LING but he is discovered by PONG's men. Therefore he has to escape. LING returns home, finding everything in a mess. Moreover she cannot find her father, so she turns to WAI for help. WAI tries to protect her.

MEI meets another doctor who suggests a new method to cure CHING. However CHUN LEUNG thinks that it is too risky and may spoil the fame of the hospital, so he opposes to it. After a long argument, he is at last convinced by MEI and YI also agrees to have CHING being treated by the new method.

CHING's condition worsens after the treatment and MEI tries her best to save his life. YI and LING also arrive and they worry much. Later MEI is reminded by the doctor that CHING is having reaction to the medicine and they are relieved. As LING rushes to the hospital, she drives carelessly and in +act she does not have a license. WAI scolds her +or her sake and she is touched by his keen concern of her. CHUN LEUNG is jealous as MEI spends so much time on CHING. He uses his authority to stop the treatment programme . MEI is angry and quarrels with him. YI is going to give birth to a baby. YUEN and YIM FONG send her to hospital. As YUEN is so nervous, he is regarded as YI's husband by the nurse. They are excited to know that YI gives birth to a boy. YI is on the brink of mental collapse after giving birth to the child. Moreover she worries too much about CHING.… ...

When CHING is to be transferred to another hospital, he meets PONG and suddenly all his memory strikes back and he grasps PONG, telling that PONG is a killer. All the others are surprised. Although PONG is being accused, he shirks everything by pointing out that CHING has mental disorder. CHING tells MEI what has happened but MEI only thinks that his condition goes worse again.… ...

However SING has been threatened by PONG, so he refuses. CHING is being accused and is proved guilty. Although he is not out behind bars, he is on bail and dismissed by the police force. CHING is discontented and determines to prove that he is not guilty. He carries out investigation with WAI. CHING finds out that MEI is PONG's sister. As ~EI has not told him this, he is angry and refuses to be treated by her. Although MEI tries to explain, CHING simply turns away from her.
