Pilot
Since having a baby, provocative disc jockey Jimmy (Dan Cortese) and his wife, Beth (Bianca Kajlich), have fallen into a droll routine. It's been nearly five months since they've had sex, and neither of them have gotten a night out since baby Otis was born. After a long night, Jimmy yawns on-air, which makes his coworkers argue that he's ""losing his edge"" - an argument that's solidified when he skips out on a long-awaited bachelor party so that Beth can have a night out with the girls. But his buddies have other plans - they crash his night of baby-sitting, moving the bachelor party to his apartment.
Coupling
In an attempt to find other couples with whom they have something in common with, Beth invites over a guy that she knows from their baby yoga class... unaware that he's gay. Meanwhile, Jimmy invites Carl over to watch the football game, but Carl finds he's being ignored as Jimmy spends the afternoon bonding with his new gay friends.
Would I Lie to You?
Jimmy succumbs to peer pressure when he smokes a joint during poker night, but he gets busted by Beth for not telling her about it when they apply for insurance and the agent wants a urine sample. Beth is initially irritated by Jimmy explanation of the subtle differences between a lie and an omission -- until she decides to omit an incident that happened with Otis.
Shift Shaft
After making on-air jokes about the station's management and hookers, Jimmy and Carl get bumped to the graveyard shift. Without consulting Jimmy, Carl announces that they are quitting, so when Jimmy confronts Carl about making the decision without him, the two decide to go their separate ways. But when Jimmy contemplates taking a job in Alaska, Beth decides to intervene.
Ring of Fire
Beth joins a mommy group and plans to make a good impression on the other mothers, but her hopes are dashed when the mothers tune in to The Jimmy and Carl Show on the day Kevin lights a ""zorch"" on air. This leads a group of college listeners to having a ""zorch contest"" (lighting their own gas on fire) which results in a bunch of guys in the ER with ""singed sphincters,"" so a guilt-ridden Jimmy sets out to ""rectify"" the situation.
Pretty in Pink Eye
When a fussy Otis gets the Cox's booed out of a movie theatre, they decide to throw a formal dinner party (with Jello shots) for their friends. But the day of the party, Otis becomes sick and unwittingly gives everyone pinkeye... the day before a magazine photographer arrives to shoot Jimmy and Carl for an article on the 25 Hottest People in Denver.
A Pain in the Aspen
When Jimmy and Carl head to Aspen for a DJ convention, they renew their childish rivalries with their on-air competitors as Carl rehashes an old fight with Doctor Dre, which his on-air partner Ed Lover tries to break up, and Danny Bonaduce wants payback from Jimmy for a prank he pulled at last year's convention. Meanwhile, ""Uncle"" Carl, who is upset with Jimmy for bringing Beth and Otis, suddenly changes his mind and even offers to baby sit when a beautiful woman sees Carl with Otis. Beth and Jimmy enjoy their day alone -- until guilt sets in when they see Carl and run the other way to avoid dealing with Otis.
Girl Power
Months after Otis's birth, Beth still doesn't feel sexy, so Pam persuades her to take a striptease class after hearing the teacher, Erin, on Jimmy's radio show... much to their surprise, Kevin is also attending the class. Meanwhile, in an attempt to make the house safer for Otis, Jimmy and Carl accidentally baby-proof themselves in the bathroom, leaving Otis unattended.
