Production on the second series had begun before any episodes were aired. Set in a university, Headland premiered in Australia on Tuesday, 15 November 2005 at 7.30pm. On 23 January 2006, the Seven Network officially announced that the series has been cancelled. The show aired on weekdays at 7.30pm in the United Kingdom on E4, re-formatted as half-hour episodes. E4 eventually dropped the show but episodes continued to be broadcast on Channel 4 at 12:30pm, this time in the original hour-long format.

Episode 1
Adam Wilde returns to his home town of South Heads to take up the position of student counsellor at South Coast University. But it's a bitter-sweet appointment for Adam. His predecessor was tragically killed four weeks earlier in a car crash, along with three other locals. Adam discovers a community still reeling from the loss and also struggling with the mystery that surrounds the accident. The car's driver, Craig, now in a coma, is the only person who has the answers to the question on everyone's lips - what really happened that night?

Grace tries to hide the truth about the accident from the injured Craig. Sasha threatens her father, that she will reveal all in her counseling.
Episode 3
Kate's first day of Uni, puts Will in a difficult position and Craig finally remembers something about the car accident.
Episode 4
Sasha betrays Will and Adam. Heath is torn between a new love and his ex.
Episode 5
Sasha starts receiving obscene phone calls. Mick is furious at Maddie's betrayal. Kate packs her bags and leaves — is their marriage over? Heath visibly flirts with Freya in front of Elly.

Sasha is hell-bent on revenge. Maddie discovers surprising information about the night of the accident
Episode 7
Adam makes a shocking discovery about his mother. A violent incident helps rekindle Elly and Heath's love. Sasha's actions have disastrous consequences. And Kate struggles to balance her university studies with her commitments as a wife and mother.

Maddie faces a huge dilemma following a shocking discovery about Angela. Heath's fight with Gareth has terrible repercussions. Adam tries to find out the truth about his mother's murder.
