We are introduced to Núi, a young boy living in Hải Phòng during the 1960s. Núi, along with his siblings Sông and Biển, faces rejection from their father, Mr. Đại, who refuses to acknowledge them as his children. As the Vietnam War intensifies, the children are sent to live with their maternal grandparents. This episode sets the stage for Núi’s challenging journey, highlighting the family’s struggles and the beginning of Núi’s tumultuous life
About Waves at the Bottom of the River
Núi is the son of a concubine in a wealthy family in 1960s Hai Phòng. Rejected by his father, Núi and his siblings face numerous hardships. As the war breaks out, they are sent to their maternal grandparents, in whose upbringing Núi’s life spirals into crimes and violence.
