The series follows the exploits of Kimihiko Saotome (played by Masatoshi Nakamura), a former detective with the Metropolitan Police Department who, unable to settle into the organisation, suddenly resigned and became a son-in-law by adoption at a long-established souvenir shop in Kyoto, where he now runs a private detective agency from the upper floor.
