About
The Noose is a parody of local news programmes such as News 5 Tonight, with fictional news reports and a presentation mimicking that of the real news. For example, every episode of News 5 Tonight begins with a CGI clock indicating the time, while every episode of the first two seasons of The Noose would spoof it by displaying the time using something more mundane, such as a plastic clock hanging on a wall. At the beginning of every episode, there is a candid disclaimer telling the viewer that the stories are not true. Each episode stars Michelle Chong, Chua En Lai, Alaric Tay and Suhaimi Yusof, with various actors and actresses as newscasters and interviewees, often with parodic mannerisms and names.

Seasons
Season 1
A weekly round up of all the headlines and stories you will not see anywhere else. We report, you believe, not our fault. Our stable of correspondents brings you in-depth reports about issues, idiosyncrasies, incumbents and insurgents, whatever all that means. The Noose…proudly brought to you by us.- The Noose Team. It is NOT the news. Irreverent, hilarious and totally outrageous, The Noose is a brand-new comedy variety programme which spoofs television news. Starring talented comedians Gurmit Singh and Michelle Chong as newscasters Roy Terse and Adrianna Wow, The Noose features news parodies which incorporates real news footage. In a format which follows the nightly newscast format, the straitlaced Roy and the bimbotic Adrianna are joined by an equally dubious team of "roving reporters" played by Chua Enlai and Alaric Tay.
Season 2
The Noose returns for a 2nd season. This non-award winning spoof of a local newscast will again attempt to tackle local issues in a manner that no other credible local television news outfit can; completely inaccurate and factually devoid.
Season 3: The Noose 3D
The Noose returns to Channel 5 with the cast and crew plotting a primetime revolution! Expect more of the irreverent, the in-depth, the shallow, and sometimes the all-too blatant truth that nobody else wants to address! A weekly round up of all the headlines and stories you won't see anywhere else, such as: Lucky Underwear: With the IRs opening up, several enterprising individuals have started businesses to help casino visitors improve their luck with stuff like lucky underwear. Fishball Price Fixing: Ever noticed that whichever fishball noodle stall you order from, the number of fishballs you get is always six? The Noose investigates. Taxi Drivers Learn French: With so many condominiums and housing projects adopting French/European sounding names, taxi companies are sending their drivers to learn French to better serve customers.
Season 4
In 2007, a little known local news network, operating from the back lanes of Caldecott Hill, came into national notoriety and prominence with the telecast of the first season of The Noose. From an initial seven viewers, which included five censors, The Noose grew from strength to strength. During the run of its third season in 2010, The Noose was the highest rated local English language show on Channel 5. Not too shabby. The Noose returns triumphantly to Channel 5 on 8th March 2011 at 8:30pm for 13 episodes. Not content with swimming in just a local pond, the fourth season of The Noose will now go international in keeping with the best practices of international news networks. The new season will see the addition of international correspondents who will embed themselves in hot spots around the world to bring a global perspective to Noose coverage.
Season 5: The Noose Uncut
It was a year in which words like repent and curry brought out some pretty strong feelings amongst Singaporeans, a year in which half naked pictures of men put Orchard Road in the headlines and a year when rain turned out to be the foulest of four letter words for some people. All this and more as we look back on 2011.
Season 6
Since 2007, Singapore’s elite news program The Noose stands ready to pound the ground to bring you the stories, reactions and analysis that no other news team on the island is capable of. What’s more, in this upcoming season, we will be giving viewers the chances to be part of the Noose family in Are You Noose Enough? It will be a season of change and new beginnings, featuring our newly acquired weapon of mass media destruction, Xinhua Hua (Alaric Tay) who will partner with B.B.See (Chua Enlai) on set for a fresh new take on issues that you should think about. On the ground, the team will be bolstered by correspondents See YanYan (Judee Tan) and Henderson Pooper (Suhaimi Yusof), a well-seasoned beefcake thrown into the most treacherous war zones of the world.
Season 7
Seven years ago, a small group of rebel journalists banded together to save Singapore from the onslaught of mainstream news tyranny. Those early days were fraught with danger, skepticism, cynicism, and untold misery as the small outfit, who called themselves The Noose, fought tooth and nail for the survival of their craft and careers. From an initial viewership of just seven, which included five censors, they won over unsuspecting Singaporeans with each bulletin. Now, seven years later, and embracing the seven year itch, the rebels are re-grouping and strengthening their ranks for another assault on the issues of the day.
Season 8
A number that more than 1.5 billion people equate with luck, prosperity, good fortune….six of one, half a dozen or the other, really. It's a number that's often associated with money and power. But 8, apparently, is also all about balance and spirituality and has virtues like being practical, realistic and intelligence. The Noose team…. We're not so sure. What we do know is that the most irreverent news team on the island, helmed by Michelle Chong
Season 9
Some people say that the number 9 symbolizes eternal love. So to the guy who sent 999 roses to Mediacorp professing their love for The Noose, thank you. BECAUSE WE'RE BACK! For our 9th season! Get ready for more irreverent stories, more madcap characters, and more thigh-slapping laughs, as Singapore's best Noose team returns, featuring the talents of Chua Enlai, Alaric Tay, Suhaimi Yusof, Judee Tan, and Siti Khalijah.
