Episode 1
Gunrunning is getting more and more serious. Police officer WAH orders his subordinates to mount more intensive operation. Sergeant AH is at a carnival when a murder takes place. Village boy KWONG witnesses the homicide and recognizes the murderer to be a man named TUNG. AH and his subordinate HUNG rush to chase after TUNG, but he has run away already. It turns out that the dead is the police informer of a gunrunning case. AH means to place TUNG under arrest. AH and CHEUNG, daughter of the village representative, are childhood friends. CHEUNG is a doctor working at the Accident and Emergency Department and her boyfriend, HOWARD, is a lawyer. AH and his girlfriend, YAN, have been dating for years. They are both very devoted to their work. AH takes KWONG to hospital and there they meet TUNG. KWONG recognizes TUNG. TUNG takes CHEUNG hostage. Meanwhile, police officer YIN from the Special Duties Unit (SDU) arrives in time to kill TUNG……

AH and his team members are suspicious about YIN’s background. WAH tells AH he did not get the promotion because he is not strict and impartial enough. HUNG has fallen in love with YAN, who he has been taking care of for AH for a long time. YAN wants to lay bare the truth to AH, but HUNG does not want to hurt AH. YAN is annoyed. YIN and AH are patrolling around the district. AH introduces MR. and MRS. LUK to YIN. When YIN returns home and takes out his photo albums, he is shocked to see a photo of a woman who looks exactly the same as MRS. LUK. YIN turns down his friend CHRISTINE’s love for him; she leaves angrily. HOWARD goes out with CHEUNG but he has been humming and hawing. He gives CHEUNG a letter and a present, and tells her not to open them until tomorrow. YIN leads his team to round up TUNG and his men’s hiding place. TUNG and his gang manage to flee away after a shoot-out with the police……

CHEUNG goes to the airport and tells KELLY about the bad news. KELLY loses her temper upon hearing it and so CHEUNG goes away. CHEUNG blames herself for not doing well enough in taking care of KELLY. AH gives her a few words of consolation. CHEUNG takes care of all the costs incurred in HOWARD’s funeral and the living of his mother. CHEUNG and KELLY have a quarrel while they are packing things left behind by HOWARD. KELLY says that CHEUNG has lost HOWARD because of her coldness. CHEUNG is heartbroken. She advises AH that he should care more about YAN but he pays no attention to her. YIN asks his colleagues to watch videotapes to look for clues. They are not allowed to go home to rest until next morning; YIN himself carries on. On the other hand, AH has found some clues in an abandoned house. YIN and his team arrive at the house. AH and YIN subdue the gang together. The misunderstandings between the two dispel……

CHEUNG does not want to pay KELLY for the baby. AH thinks the same, too. KELLY’s brother is a gambler and is heavily in debt. He forces KELLY to get the money from CHEUNG. KELLY calls CHEUNG from the clinic, threatening to have the baby aborted if CHEUNG does not bring the money. CHEUNG goes to the clinic with AH. AH cannot bear the sight of KELLY’s arrogance. He suggests CHEUNG pay KELLY in installments. KELLY, though reluctant, has to accept their suggestion. CHEUNG takes KELLY home. She lies to her father that KELLY is HOWARD’s cousin. KELLY treats CHEUNG very badly. AH quarrels with KELLY a lot because of this. KELLY strolls around the village. She does not know that women are not allowed to enter the ancestral hall, and is asked to leave. CHEUNG comes to take her away in time. CHEUNG reminds KELLY that she has to respect the village customs. CHEUNG and KELLY meet YIN on the way home……

YIN scolds AH for acting too rashly and alerting the gang. In order to vent his anger, AH goes boxing with YING, a good friend of his who is also a police informer. AH is very glad to learn that YING has applied for an English course and he decides to sponsor him. The villagers mistake KELLY for a thief. KELLY is upset that she has been wronged. She goes to a bar on her own. She meets YIN there and the two have a drink together. CHEUNG shows up and stops KELLY from drinking any more. KELLY talks about HOWARD’s past deliberately to hurt CHEUNG then leaves. CHEUNG totally cracks up. She gets dead drunk and throws up at YIN. YIN does not blame her for this and even carries her home on his back. The villagers are saying that YIN and CHEUNG are having an affair. On the way home, CHEUNG mentions HOWARD’s name, which upsets YIN. YIN asks KELLY to take care of CHEUNG. CHEUNG’s talk in her sleep comes as an awakening to KELLY……
Episode 6
AH and HUNG are attacked by the gang. Fortunately, the SDU arrives in time. AH and HUNG do not get hurt but YIN gives them a good telling-off somehow. AH goes to the sole agent of the bulletproof vest. He finds out that YAN was the only person in Hong Kong who has bought a vest from them. AH and his team throw a celebration party. AH gets drunk and loses his temper. HUNG cannot bear seeing AH being so heartbroken and so tells him the whole thing. YAN blames AH for treating her like a domestic helper over the years. Feeling shame and angry, AH beats HUNG. HUNG expresses his discontent and leaves. AH plays basketball with some teenagers so as to let off his anger. He spends the whole night at the park thinking. CHEUNG comes and encourages him to face the reality. HUNG quits. AH runs to him to wish him and YAN all the best. The two reconcile. The villagers are holding a traditional Chinese banquet. WAH comes along with his team……

CHEUNG accepts YIN’s invitation at last. It is raining when they get to the village. YIN lends his only umbrella to CHEUNG. He rushes home in the rain and brushes past KEI. KEI finds it strange that he is wearing the same jade pendant as hers. She then reckons he is she and her ex-husband’s son. Her husband LUK KIN MO tells her to wait and see. The next day, KEI asks YIN about his family but he avoids the question and leaves. KEI feels better when YIN says he will come again. A construction site has been repeatedly attacked by the same group of teenagers. They have been caught but a lawyer comes to bail them out. Meanwhile, Rocky shows up at the police station and offers to help the contractor free of charge. YIN and his team’s efforts have been made fruitless. Yin goes home. YIN feels that his father, KIT, only pays attention to his stepbrother. He mentions about his mother’s name and the two have a quarrel……

AH’s heart is beating very fast when CHEUNG is checking his heartbeats. She does not realize that this has anything to do with his nervousness. KELLY is visiting her brother, REN; CHEUNG gives her a ride. REN urges KELLY to go for an abortion so then she can look after ROCKY. CHEUNG takes KELLY home immediately. KELLY cries over her ill fate. CHEUNG consoles her and encourages her to be positive to life. The teenagers stir up troubles at the construction site again. The contractor drives them away in the name of ROCKY. The contractor introduces ROCKY to the Japanese representative from their main office to help ROCKY monopolize the land acquisition in the Northern District. Uncle CAT, a big name in the underworld, has been attacked and seriously hurt. CHEUNG is making her round of visits when she sees a killer. She is frightened and tries hard to hide. When YIN arrives, the killer has already gone……
